Welcome to Week 5!

Good afternoon parents,

Welcome to our last Week 5 for this year...can you believe the term is nearly done! I can vaguely remember the middle of Term 3 and then poof...we are here!

I earnt some mum points this weekend driving up to Perth so Ella and some friends could go see the Old Mervs...you either know them or you don't...they did and had a blast!

She is now the proud owner of a random guitar pick that she battled another girl for...oh, to be 16 again!

What is on this week...

A relatively normal week for us in 3DEL...except...!

Pupil Free Day - A reminder that this Friday, 10th November is a day off for all students. I hope you enjoy the mid term break and it gives you all a moment to pause and gather your strength for the last few weeks!

Naturaliste Free Dress - Thursday 9th November.

St Vincent De Paul Hamper Appeal - further information will be coming out on this next week, but if I can ask you to pop a couple of extra Christmas items into your shopping if you can over the next couple of weeks.

This is a great initiative to help others during a tough time.

Stationery - Even though we don't have much of the term left, please know that we are still working VERY HARD and doing lots of work.

With this being said, can you please, please, please make sure that your child has glue, pencils and scissors...these items are used multiple times throughout the day and are important tools for our learning.

Students often feel stressed when they don't have what they need and are worried about asking their friend or deskmate...making sure that students are in that green zone, ready to learn is vital as is having the resources they need to do their job.

Please check in with your child to make sure they have what they need, thank you!

Homework for this Week...

A reminder to check in with your child to see how they are going with their homework...in our reading groups this week, I discussed the importance of reading out loud. This is a great skill to help us make sure that we are attending to meaning...that is making sure that what we are reading makes sense.

Our brains are amazing things that pre-empt what a word is and if we aren't listening carefully, using our decoding skills and making sure that what we read makes sense our reading skills don't improve.

Thank you as well for the lovely cards and gifts that I received for World Teacher's Day...many of the cards and notes made me cry!

The chocolates are currently keeping me going during report writing and the whole family is loving the yummy honey!

I am so grateful for each and every one of these beautiful kids, they have worked so hard and have made great progress in so many ways...thank you all for your efforts in helping your child to show up each day...this parenting gig is hard work!

Enjoy the week,

Mrs Delane
