Welcome to Week 2!
Good morning everyone,
Welcome to another week in 3DEL...the term is flying past already...I blinked and it was Wednesday afternoon!
Thank you for your efforts in getting your children sorted ready for our final term, they have all grown so much as I am sure you can tell by the change in short and dress lengths!
We celebrated our Senior Presentation Awards last night down at the NCC, a great night with a few notable mentions!
Firstly, well done Trav Fassom and Ben Danaher on a great evening of entertainment...you and your team did a great night of moving everyone along and fun was had, thanks legends!
Secondly, congratulations to our SWFL Women's Team on taking out the award for Team of the Year this is an award that recognises the commitment, inclusivity and demonstration of club values on and off the field.
Well done Candice Honeybone, Alicia Reagan and Joanne Tate...you girls are awesome!
Finally, a HUGE congratulations to our very own Reece Duffield for being awarded the Senior Club Person of the Year...the work that he does for all our club members is truly astonishing, you're an inspiration Reece and we are so grateful to have you as a Shark!
A huge thanks also to Beth, Sam, Clancy and Ned for their support in supporting Reece to do what he does!!!
Character Strength of the Week...
WHAT IS CURIOSITY?
Another great one to discuss around the dinner table...To be curious is to explore and discover, to take an interest in ongoing experience for its own sake.
Curiosity is often described as novelty-seeking and being open to experience, and it’s associated with the natural desire to build knowledge.
It is fulfilling to journey toward an answer, to engage in a new experience, or to learn a new fact.
To go to a new restaurant, visit a new city, meet a new person in your class, or to conduct an online search for a question can each fulfill your quest for new experiences and new information.
There are two key components to curious individuals: They are interested in exploring new ideas, activities and experiences, and they also have a strong desire to increase their own personal knowledge.
What's Happening This Week...
A quieter one this week which is lovely, we can settle into our learning and enjoy this warm weather!
Library - Please note that we will be having our Library session on Wednesday this week as we will be spending time with Ms Rooney and Mrs De Garis learning more about the Rosary.
Rosary - If your child has a set of rosary beads that they would like to bring in on Thursday they are welcome to do so, please make sure they aren't too valuable and are labelled so the students know.
Water Bottles - Just a reminder that as the weather heats up it is important that your child is bringing a water bottle each day...we take multiple breaks throughout the day to rehydrate as this keeps us all feeling good!
Absentee Notes - Please check in with your child to see if they brought home an absentee note last week, these are important to keep up to date as regular attendance and communication is important...perhaps dig to the bottom of the bag!
Not everyone got one, but if you did, can you please fill it in, sign and return it with your child tomorrow so that I can resolve any outstanding absences.
PAT Assessments - We will be completing these assessments over the coming week, these are great tools to help us work out your child's strengths and weaknesses...they are adaptive which means they will target your child for where they are at and guide them to challenge or support their knowledge.
This will be super low key and no cause for stress or worry.
Bush Fire Drill - You will have received information about this super important drill happening at some point this week, please make sure that you have a plan to collect your child or have organised someone to do this for you.
As per the communication, once we receive notice that the drill is happening, I will pack the children up and have them ready to be collected directly from the classroom.
Thank you for your support of this very important initiative!
Homework...
Just a reminder to check in with your child to make sure that homework is coming home.
Each week we complete the following and your child is to bring it in with them on Friday.
Reading - 10-15 minutes each night (out loud preferably) and answering one question thoughtfully from the given list.
Mental Maths - Working through the 4 columns as suits with Mathletics available if your child is looking for more.
All reading is to be neatly filled in and then brought to you for your signature ready for a new set up on Friday.
Thank you all for a great start to the term, enjoy the week!
Kind regards,
Mrs Delane
