Week 8 Is Here...How?!

Good afternoon parents,

Welcome to Week 8 in 3DEl...just 10 more days and our time together is done...insert suuuuuuuper sad face here!

I am pretty sure I remember Week 3 but from there it has all been such a huge blur!

How is the heat?! I have run out of dishes for the garden trying to keep the birds, possums and bobtails hydrated so that they stop trying to move into my house!

I am not great with small animals of the not cute and cuddly vibe...Australian critters have been sent to test me...all I need is the spiders and then I reckon I am out of the country!

We don't have a character strength to focus on for this week but it is possibly a good chance to focus on them all...our main strengths are the ones that we lean to without thinking.

It is tough going in class at the moment with the heat and the general bugs and things going around so we shall all draw on our strengths of perseverance, love, gratitude and self-regulation to ensure that we end the term on a high!

I have very much enjoyed working with this amazing group and we have made some great memories together...I am so proud of their progress and I will miss them very much!

Class Lists 2024 - In the newsletter last week, you would have seen that Mrs Penny King and Mrs Annie Lord (3 days) and Mrs Megan Zanetti (2 days) will be working with these students next year.

Ben and I are working very carefully on drafting class lists for 2024 and have been doing so for a number of weeks...our goal is group the students and place them in a learning environment that best accommodates their learning needs.

This is an incredibly complex task and our goal is to ensure that your child is best placed for their learning, balancing this with their social-emotional needs.

Class lists will be distributed to parents in Week 10.

What's On This Week...

As usual, we are very busy! This coming Wednesday we have the OLC Christmas Concert...we will be having a whole school rehearsal each day and it is VERY IMPORTNAT that your child brings their hat and water bottle to school each day as well as making sure that sunscreen has been applied before coming to school.

We will be having rehearsals on Monday afternoon after lunch and on Tuesday and Wednesday morning's...hydration and sun protection are key particularly in this recent heat.

Please make sure that your child has a costume as directed...Mrs King has provided a number of pictures for inspiration in the newsletter a couple of weeks ago so please check them out.

We will be celebrating this year's concert on Wednesday 29th November beginning at 5.30pm...please make sure that you arrive by 5pm with your child dressed and ready to go.

Please bring them to class NO EARLIER than 5pm so that we can get everyone settled and we will make our way down to the oval...once you have dropped your child off, please head down to the oval to find a good spot!

Working Hard - Other than our Christmas concert preparations, please note that we are still in the midst of our teaching and learning program...we are working very hard and we are not on holidays yet.

Grading for student reports is still underway and reports will be made available via SEQTA in Week 9.

We expect the students to attend school each day dressed in their correct school uniform (unless unwell) with a positive attitude, necessary resources, good manners and behaviour.

St Vinnies Christmas Hamper Appeal - A huge thank you to those families that have been able to make a contribution so far. If you are able to make a small donation, these hampers go a long way!

Homework - Please note that there is no homework for this week and next, we are aware there is a lot going on and the students are tired.

I encourage you to make sure that your child is still reading and they have their Mathletics log ins available if the would like to spend some time consolidating their classroom work.

I hope that you are all staying nice and cool, I am looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Wednesday evening.

Kindest regards,

Mrs Delane
