Welcome to Week 10

Welcome to Week 10,

Can you believe that we are at the end of Term 3 already?! I vaguely remember week 6 and that is about it!

A huge thank you to all our 3DEL families for coming in to class last week for our Open Classroom afternoon.

It was really great to see everyone and the students have been working so hard and they are so proud of their work...thankyou for your time!

I have spent the weekend winding up all of the winter sports and basketball is already under way for Ella...a great weekend watching some of the Dunsborough teams that have made it to the finals, I think we are in all of them from Year 7 through to Year 9 with at least one GF Derby! How good!

Well done to our students for their efforts at our carnival last week, I heard they were very brave and worked hard doing their factions proud!

Our Character Strength of the Week...Self-regulation...

As always, these character strengths are great talking points for around the dinner table and a helpful one to get your children thinking about their personal strengths.

When we think about these as strengths without the balance of weakness we can notice which of these strengths are within our top 5...those that we draw on without thinking.

St Martin de Porres faced a lot of discrimination and injustice as a person on colour. He was not even initially allowed into any religious orders because of this.

He was patient and kind and lived his life to help others.

He saw no task as too small or beneath him and treated others with kindness and respect regardless of how they may have treated him. Some great prompts include...

• Do you manage your emotions?

• Do you manage your behaviours

What's On This Week...

Speeches - we will begin presenting these on Tuesday. I will discuss with the students the schedule as some have indicated they would like to go first...as I mentioned last week, I know that many of the students are nervous about doing this task but I know that they will be great!

Book WeekThis year's theme is Read, Grow, Inspire.

Children are encouraged to dress up on the day, but please note it is not compulsory.

If they wish to dress up we ask them to please dress in accordance with the theme or as a book character.

If your child doesn't wish to dress up they are to wear their normal sports uniform, it is not a free dress day.

The day will begin at 9.15am with 1N's Performance Assembly and will then move into our parade before our Star Citizen Awards are presented around 10am.

Thank you all for another great term, for those travelling away these holidays, have a great time and travel safe!

I look forward to seeing you back next term!

Kindest regards, Mrs Delane
