Welcome to the Halfway Point!
Good afternoon,
How good is this weather!
I am loving the Sunday at home after a busy day yesterday out at Brunswick Oval!
A tough day for our SWFL teams with losses in all grades...the girls were legendary and pushed them in a tough contest and the League boys led for most of the game...a couple of key injuries late in the 3rd quarter meant that the Lions got on top and ran the lead down...a disappointing day out for the club but good footy on display!
I hope your family has enjoyed the weekend, I can't believe we are at the halfway mark of the term already...I remember it being June and then suddenly we are almost halfway through August!
The students have been working really well with last week being a particularly high point of the term.I feel that they are all working well as a group to be at their best and make sure that their words and actions contribute to a positive classroom environment.
We don't always get it right but I am so proud of the way that the students are working, settling to their work and taking feedback on board to help them be better learners and classmates!
This is particularly evident in our writing process and Follow Freddy investigation at the moment...you will see the results of their hard work on display at our Open Classroom event on Wednesday 13th September!
Character Strength of the Week...
WHAT IS SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE?
This is a fantastic one to discuss this week as it is such a key skill...being aware of others and being mindful of our own behaviour goes a long way.
In class we talk a lot about time and place...knowing the right moment to crack that joke!
When a person knows what makes other people tick, he or she is displaying social intelligence.
They’re aware of the motives and feelings of themselves and others, and how to fit into different social situations.
They can feel comfortable and say the right thing whether they’re in the boardroom or the janitorial room, in a school setting or at a construction site. Social intelligence involves two general components:
- Social awareness: what we sense about others
- Social facility: what we do with our awareness
Reminders for the Coming Week...
Operation Shoebox - Thank you to everyone that has already sent in their component...just a quick reminder, all students were placed in groups of 5 with 5 different items allocated to their group.
Our age group is 5-9 years of age and for either a boy or girl, again, check with your child please.
Please check in with your child to make sure they are aware of what they need to bring in.
We will be packing these on Friday 18th August so we ask that all donations are in and ready to go.
Please make sure that you also send in $2.50 for your child - each box needs to be posted costing $12.50 in total...if you have sent in your item but not your postage yet, please do so this week.
If there are any problems with contributing, please do reach out privately to let me know...for many families this is a big ask and we are here to help!
Ladies Day - The Dunsborough Sharks are having their Ladies Day, this Sunday 20th August...ALL women of the club are invited!
This is an event that celebrates those of you that manage, support or play!
Use the link below to come and enjoy...it is the last game for the season for the SWFL Women's team so get around the girls and enjoy a shandy or two!
I hope you all have a great weekend, enjoy the week!
Kind regards,
Mrs Delane
