Welcome to Week 1 of Term 3
Good evening parents,
Welcome back to the school term...this time last year I was enjoying the warmth of Exmouth and spotting turtles in full relax mode ready to take my first lot of Long Service Leave...what a difference for this term!
After a break that has been spent mostly nursing my sick kids (and myself) back to some health after this horrid flu we did manage to get away to the bright lights of Melbs to eat and tram our way around the city!
We were lucky enough to be at the game between Melbourne and Brisbane last night and it was a cracker!! We were deep in Lion's territory but we celebrated hard each of the Melbourne goals...Ella is going to move to move to Melbourne to lean into her Melbs life and support Brisbane...she was not thrilled with the outcome!
A lovely time to recharge and reconnect with my family ready for another big term! I highly recommend the MCG Tour and Shark Fin Inn for dim sum if that's your jam!
I hope that you were able to stay warm and well this holiday and are ready to start straight back into it on Monday.
Character Strength of the Week...Prudence.
WHAT IS PRUDENCE?
Prudence means being careful about your choices, stopping and thinking before acting. It is a strength of restraint.
When you are prudent, you are not taking unnecessary risks, and not saying or doing things that you might later regret.
If you are high in prudence, you are able to consider the long-term consequences of your actions.
Prudence is a form of practical reasoning, the ability to examine the potential consequences of your actions objectively, and to control yourself based on that examination. Prudence involves far-sighted planning as well as short-term, goal-directed planning. It is often referred to as cautious wisdom, practical wisdom, and practical reasoning.
A couple of reminders to help the term start as smoothly as possible...
Absentees - If you know that your family will still be away as we commence the term, can I please ask you to jump online to fill in an online absentee form so that I can reconcile any absences.
Change to Uniform - A reminder that our dance sessions with Mrs Haines have now ended...this means your child is to wear their sports uniform on Wednesday and Friday only.
They are to be in their formal uniform all other days with correct footwear.
Stationery - If you haven't already, can I ask that you send in some extra stationery items with your child on Monday.
We will be taking some time to swap out old books with new ones and your child needs - lead pencils, red pens, glue sticks, scissors, ruler, eraser and a functional sharpener.
Coloured pencils and textas are also on high rotation so please make sure that you have checked in with your child...perhaps just throw the spares in anyways!
Scrap Books - As per our book list at the beginning of the year, we asked for additional exercise (4) and scrap books (1).
We swap out our Maths, Spelling, Writing, Reading and Homework books for the second semester - can you please send these spare ones in with your child on Monday ready to be swapped.
Mr Lee's Farwell - A huge thank you to the parents that were able to attend Mr Lee's farewell last term...
He was beyond chuffed with our Year 3 gift of a Sharks Hoodie and wore it the very next Sunday in his all important role as our Interchange Steward!
