Week 6 - A Long Weekend Coming In!
Good evening parents,
I hope that you all enjoyed the weekend...both freezing cold and super warm this weekend...I hope sport was played in good spirits, the coffee was warm and enjoyable and the washing got dry!
A tough one today for all 4 Sharks teams at Harvey...gosh, it is a lot further than I thought...a clean sweep for Harvey but once again, all Sharks teams played with heart and gave it their all!
The Colts led right up until the 4th quarter when Harvey just peeled them in, the Ressies fought and chased hard but didn't get the win.
Our women were outplayed by a really great team...their midfield...sublime! The League boys made them earn the win losing by just 2 goals in a hard fight...the drive home was a bit quicker thankfully!
Super pleasing to share that the 10-12 Youth Girls had their first win for the 2022 and 2023 season beating Busselton on Friday night by just 2 points...the girls were beyond stoked and the future of the Dunsborough Sharks looks strong!
Our Character Strength for this Week...Love!
St Valentine is the patron Saint of love. He did not listen to the emperor at the time who decreed those young men in the army were not to be wed.
Love as a character strength, rather than as an emotion, refers to the degree to which you value close relationships with people, and contribute to that closeness in a warm and genuine way.
Love, as a character strength really refers to the way you approach your closest and warmest relationships.
Love is reciprocal, referring to both loving others and the willingness to accept love from others
Our Reminders for this Week...

Year 3 Reconciliation - This coming our Year 3 students will be receiving their First Reconciliation on Tuesday (3DAN) and Wednesday (3DEL).
All Year 3 families are welcome to attend in support if you wish...candidates and their families are asked to be settled in the Church by 4.45pm ready for a prompt 5pm start.
We will be on hand to direct you to move towards the sanctuary to present your child to Fr Archie.
We will be practicing this week to make sure that your child feels comfortable, the most important thing to remember is that we are welcome in God's house and we want this to be a beautiful, reflective moment...don't worry about making a mistake.
The procedure for your child to receive the sacrament is as below:
- Fr Archie
- Parents
- Candidate
1. When you are directed to move, approach Fr. Archie:
Parents, you will take your child to Father Archie and say “Father, we present to you (child’s name)”. Leave your child there and return quietly to your pew.
Fr. Archie will say: “In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
You say: Amen.
Make the sign of the cross at this time.
3. You Begin: Say: “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned, this is my First Reconciliation.”
4. You Continue:
Say: “These are my sins: ___________”.
Tell Fr. Archie the sins you remember from your Examination of Conscience.
5. After telling Fr. Archie our sins, you say: “I am sorry for these and for all of my sins.”
Fr. Archie will say a few words to you. Listen carefully to him.
6. Fr. Archie will give us a penance (usually a prayer or a kind deed).
We should nod and say, “Yes, Father.”
7. Fr. Archie will then ask you to say an Act of Contrition.
You Say:
Oh my God,
I am very sorry that I have sinned against you
Because you are so good
And with your help I will try not to sin again”
8. Fr. Archie will give us the Lord’s forgiveness, which is called absolution.
Fr. Archie says a prayer laying his hands gently over your head:
“I absolve you from your sins, in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
While he says this, make the sign of the cross and say, “Amen.”
9. Fr. Archie dismisses us to return to your parents.
Say, “Thank you, Father.”
Return to your seat and kneel to pray. Do the penance Fr. Archie has given you... You have now been Reconciled. You may quietly leave the church with your family.
A reminder that if you are unable to attend your given day, please notify me as soon as possible.
Pupil Free Day - Please note that this Friday 2nd June is a Pupil Free Day. All OLC staff will be attending a Religious Education PD offsite about Embracing the Sabbath.
If you are heading away for the weekend, please drive safe!
