Week 4 Is Here

Good afternoon parents,

An early post out this week...apologies that it won't have an in depth analysis of our football performance for tomorrow but I am determined to not work on Mother's Day!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all you amazing mum's a very very Happy Mother's Day...this job is wonderful and rewarding but it is also difficult and draining and all of the things in between. 

The load you carry for your children and your families is an important one so I hope this day is spent with some moments that fill your cup and remind you of how important you are...if you spend it breaking up fights or ferrying children from one sport to the next...you are amazing!

Character Strength of the week...KINDNESS...

One of the many joys of my job in working with students is seeing the ways in which they exhibit their individual strengths...this one in particular, I see A LOT!! I am always blown away by the kindness and consideration our young people show to others. 

Simply put, kindness is being nice to others. Kindness is being generous with others, giving your time and talent to support those who are in need. 

Kindness is being compassionate, which means to really be there for someone, listening intently to their suffering or just sitting with them and silently supporting them. 

Such compassion involves a deep concern for the welfare of others. Kindness is also being nurturing and caring to others — to enjoy doing favors for them, to take care of them, and to perform good deeds.

A few reminders for the coming week...

Yoga - We had a fantastic and very timely session on Wednesday with Ms Heather Starr in which the students had a chance to experiment with some meditation exercises! 

It was a little hard to do when the wind is blowing a gale outside and pouring with rain but the students responded really well...there were definitely a couple that looked to be asleep...I can confirm that one of our Year 6 helpers, did in fact fall asleep!

We will have another session this Wednesday...a massive thank you to all involved in facilitating this experience!

Scholastic Book Fair - We are super excited to have this great initiative back at our school...As for the past few years, we will only be selling books and not the landfill that comes with the Fair as part of our commitment to the Environment.

Opening Hours are - 

  • Tuesday 16th May -  8.00 - 8.30 am and 3.00 - 4.00 pm 
  • Wednesday 17th May -  8.00 - 8.30 am and 3.00 - 3.30 pm  

Please note students need a parental permission note if they want bring more than $20 to school to spend on the Fair.

Uniform Update/Check In - 

Shoes - Please make sure that your child's shoes comply with the examples from our website. 

Students should NOT be wearing sneakers with their formal uniform - Running Club days are an exception for those that ATTEND. 

Some students are not attending running club but are wearing their sneakers with their formal uniform.

Hair Cuts - A reminder that hair is past your child's collar must be securely tied back...that is will survive the day without coming undone. 

Fringes will also need to be secured so that beautiful faces can be seen. Mr Torrese spoke with relevant students last week, a very big thank you those parents that facilitated these changes.

Hair Ties - Please make sure that these are in the school colours of black, teal and white. Neutral/hair colour colours are also fine...no elaborate bows, elastics or claw clips please.

Socks - Please make sure that your daughter is wearing white socks with her shoes and your son is wearing grey socks with theirs...they should be plain white or grey with no logo and most definitely not black.

Change to Our Routine - You will have received an email from Mr Lee on Friday advising that I will be adjusting my days to work Monday to Thursday and Mrs Tenneille Lamotte will be teaching on Friday's.

Mrs Lamotte already works in our classroom in an EA capacity and will be a wonderful addition to the class in her teaching role. 

She knows the students and classroom routines very well and she will step in seamlessly...I will discuss this further with the students on Monday to answer any questions they may have.

We have had a thorough handover and will maintain regular communication to ensure the students are working in the best learning environment possible.

Please note that due to this change, the students will now have their Music lesson with Mrs King on Friday...instead of Thursday.

Thank You - A big thank you and good luck to those families attending their commitment ceremony at mass this evening...I am sorry that I am unable to attend but I am grateful to the organisers and Fr Archie!

Wishing all mum's a wonderful day tomorrow and I look forward to hearing about the events of the weekend on Monday!

Welcome to Week 2!

Good morning everyone, Welcome to another week in 3DEL...the term is flying past already...I blinked and it was Wednesday afternoon! Thank you for your efforts in getting your children sorted ready for our final term, they have all grown so much as I am sure you can tell by the change in short and dress lengths! We celebrated our Senior Presentation Awards last night down at the NCC, a great night with a few notable mentions!  Firstly, well done Trav Fassom and Ben Danaher on a great evening of entertainment...you and your team did a great night of moving everyone along and fun was had, thanks legends! Secondly, congratulations to our SWFL Women's Team on taking out the award for Team of the Year this is an award that recognises the commitment, inclusivity and demonstration of club values on and off the field.  Well done Candice Honeybone, Alicia Reagan and Joanne Tate...you girls are awesome! Week 7 Update

Good afternoon parents, I hope you have all enjoyed a great weekend!  I spent most of yesterday down at The Shark Park watching and supporting our Sharks in action against Eaton...whilst it was only the Colts that got the points yesterday in our first inter-club scratchie there was some darn good football played!  Our own 3DEL legend and last year's captain, Candice Honeybone gave the Eaton girls a darn good nudge which was so good to see...not only have we had our numbers boosted, we showed excellent improvement and we actually scored on multiple occasions as well as getting it and keeping it in our forward half...these were things to only dream of last year so yaaaaay! We were ably assisted by none other than the great Eugene Lee in helping to keep our players hydrated, on such a hot day we couldn't have done it without him! Week 6 Update

Good morning parents, I hope you enjoyed both the warmth and coolness of this weekend...my favourite time of the year. Warm days and cool nights are perfect for doing all the things!  We are about to begin exam week in our house for Ella...please keep her and us in your prayers!   Remembrance Day - Yesterday we celebrated Remembrance Day as a nation.  Our whole school gathered together on Wednesday in a service beautifully led by 5C remembering those that have served and died for us to live as we do.  We pause to remember on  the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minute’s silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation. At 11am on 11 November 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare.  The Germans called for an armistice (suspension of fighting) in order to secure a peace settlement. They accepted the allied terms of unconditional surrender....
