Welcome to Term 2

Good morning parents,

Welcome back to Term 2!

I  hope that you have had a great break and spent it doing things that have refreshed and replenished the energy stores...you may also have spent them constantly tidying, feeding and ferrying your small people around and may very much be looking forward to your children returning to school and the new routine beginning for the term.

Whatever you did or however you spent it...I see you!

I spent the holidays teaching Ella to drive...what a vibe that is! The next step generationally is such an eye opener, I still feel like my guys are at primary school!

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Chase Bromley and his family to our class, I know that you will make him and his family feel welcome here at OLC!

Character Strength of the Week...

WHAT IS HUMILITY?

Humility means accurately evaluating your accomplishments.

It’s easy to describe what humility is not — it is not bragging, not doing things in excess, not seeking the spotlight, not drawing attention to yourself, not viewing yourself as more special or important than others.

On the other hand, it is not bowing to every wish or demand of another person and it is not being highly self-critical.

Truly humble people think well of themselves and have a good sense of who they are, but they also are aware of their mistakes, gaps in their knowledge, and imperfections.

Most importantly, they are content without being a center of attention or getting praised for their accomplishments.

A common misconception is that humility involves having a low self-esteem, a sense of unworthiness, and/or a lack of self-focus. However, true humility involves an accurate self-assessment, recognition of limitations, keeping accomplishments in perspective, and forgetting of the self.

Humble people do not distort information to defend or verify their own image, and they do not need to see-or present- themselves as being better than they actually are.

Speaking of Humility...I know that the 3DEL family is super invested in how the Sharks Senior teams are travelling, you will hopefully be delighted to hear that our Women's team had their first win yesterday against South Bunbury....a low scoring game but so much happening...we led for each of the quarter breaks and held off to get the win! A great day for our club!

Whilst you have enjoyed an additional day off...as a staff, we have spent today learning about some digital platforms that are available to help engage students and provide some new tools for teaching!

Today we remember ANZAC Day... such an important time of year as Australians and important to take a moment to remember all that has come before us and thank our past and current serving men and women.

As a group we will spend time tomorrow discussing the relevance and meaning behind ANZAC Day as a special time in Australian history.

A Few Reminders...

Day 1 - We start back on Wednesday and it will be like we haven't missed a step. A reminder to make sure that your child has checked with their pencil case and uniform and has all they need ready to start the term well.                                                                        Please remember that our sports uniform days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Students are expected to wear their correct winter uniform for Tuesday and Friday...it is getting chilly so please make sure your child has their jumper or jacket ready to go and in their bag for just in case!

Library Borrowing Day - Please note that 3DEL have now changed our day to a Thursday...this will allow us more time to get students checked in and out with their new books.

Please support your child to make sure that they are bringing their library bag to borrow each week.
