Welcome to Week 6

Good afternoon parents,

Welcome to another busy week in3DEL! I hope that the long weekend has come at just the right for you and your family and given everyone a timely break.

A couple of reminders for the coming week...

JEMMS - Please note that there will be NO groups this week as Mrs Jackson is away.

We look forward to these recommencing for Week 7, we do ask that you have your child as school as close to 8am as possible.

NAPLAN - As mentioned previously, we will have our final practice this Thursday with our writing session, this is one that won't be completed online giving students the opportunity to write.

It has been a really valuable experience for the students to have the chance to practice logging into the NAPLAN system and being exposed to a variety of different question types.

If you have any concerns about your child completing these NAPLAN Assessments, please get in touch with me as soon as possible.

The online window for NAPLAN opens Monday of Week 7...all assessments are planned to be completed in the morning session of each day and our timetable will be adjusted accordingly.

Please bear this in mind when booking any appointments or taking any unnecessary days off.

P&F Carwash - Please see the flyers located around the school and shared through the socials and the newsletter about this great initiative.

Our busy term of learning continues and I am looing forward to having some work ready for you to look at via See Saw in the next week or two.

If you are missing your log in details please let me know!

Character Strength of the Week -

This week we are looking at a super important one! It is the character strength of Fairness.

It is one that is at play in many areas of life and often one of the hardest to maintain...especially with those that challenge us most!

St John Baptist De La Salle was known for his contributions to education reform and to equality in education for all in France.

He strongly advocated for the “the last, the least and the lost”. Some great questions to bring to the family dinner table are:

  • Do you treat everybody the same?
  • Do you not let your feelings bias your decisions?

Homework - Week 7

Just a quick reminder about the process of completing this.

If you can please make sure that your child is reading each night, at least twice a week out loud and that your child is choosing a question to answer, writes this answer in the given space and then has you sign it.

This gets them thinking about what they have just read and is super important in helping them connect to their reading and make sense of what they have read, giving it purpose.

The times tables/mental maths is meant to be a simple review of basic facts, if your child is finding these particularly easy, that's great...it gives them a boost in confidence.

If your child is finding them a bit challenging, please don't stress...pull out the Cheerios/bag of pasta to help them show it physically and take it from there.

This needs to be brought in each week as they collect their new sheets for the coming week - homework books go home on a Monday. Students are reminded each day about this.

Please let me know if you have any questions, wishing you all a great week!

Kindest regards,

Mrs Delane
