Week 9...Wow!

Good afternoon parents,

Can you believe that Week 9 is here already? 

In some ways the term has flown but in others it has moved super slow...I hope that you have enjoyed the weekend and spent it winding up all things basketball and prepping to begin the winter sports regime.

No footy to report this week except that a great night was had at the Club on Saturday night. All senior teams were presented with their jumpers and a player auction was held...So much great support for this fun initiative...I am super hopeful my group scores votes every week, I will have to see what I can do about that!

We are kicking off Round 2 next week against Donnybrook at home...if you are interested in helping in any way, shape or form on these days, there are plenty of small things that can be done. Please let me know if you're keen!

Character Strength...

This week our character strength of focus is Honesty, not just in telling the truth but in being authentic within ourselves and how we present ourselves to the world.

St Gertrude the Great is known as a powerful champion of truth and justice. 

She was a Benedictine Nun who dedicated her work to theology, learning and writing.  

• Do you like to know the truth? 
• Do you like people to be truthful to you? 

A few reminders for the final couple of weeks...

Interviews - A massive thank you to all the parents that I met with last week, whilst it was a busy time it was really wonderful to have a chance to meet you all and talk about your child. 

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful community here at OLC and it was lovely to connect with most of you, even for a short time! 

If you have not booked a time, I am available Tuesday afternoon with time slots for 3.15pm, 3.30pm, 3.45pm and 4pm. Please email me directly.

Hair Accessories - I realise that the term is almost at an end but just a reminder that our hair accessories should be simple and in our school colours of teal, white or black - hair colour is also fine.

Whilst I love that the 90's are making a comeback, big bulky claw clips often don't work so well with hats so I might ask that we leave these for the weekend.

If you can please just do a quick check of your daughter's accessories to make sure they are compliant with our school policy I would be super grateful!

Easter Egg Donation - A massive thank you to those parents that have already made a donation to our basket, the P&F is asking for each family to donate a small egg/chocolate product for the raffle by the end of this week.

Wheels After Meals - Mr Lee is bringing this super fun initiative back for Tuesday this week, your child is welcome to bring their wheels in and enjoy rolling around on Tuesday once they have been dismissed from lunch.

Please make sure that your child has their helmet and any additional safety equipment. Scooters and skateboards can be left near Mr Lee's back office door.

Science - Mr McSevich has been working hard with the students in Science and this Monday students will be making a Sun Dial Watch. 

Mr Mac came in and spoke to the students on Thursday to clarify what is needed and answer any additional questions.

Students are asked to bring the following in with them for their lesson on Monday. Items that can be used to make:

• A face
• A wrist band- these will need to be attached to their wrist so they will need something to assist with that.
• A nomen...

Mr Mac has spent a lot of time discussing this concept with the students so they should all be clear on what is required.

We do appreciate that many of you would love to help, but Mr Mac does ask that you allow your child to think of ideas and choose items themselves that could work. It will be assembled in class and should be able to be done so by your child.
