It's Week 8!
Hello again!
Wow, can you believe that it is Week 8 already?! We only have 14 more days of school left before we head off for a two week holiday...I have no idea where the time has gone!
Football Update - I seem to have appointed myself local football reporter for the Dunsborough Sharks and as part of this role I did spend another glorious day out in the sun at the oval yesterday watching our local teams in action.
So here's this week's update...Unfortunately HBL weren't able to bring a women's team this week as a large number of them were apparently participating in a baseball final...this meant that our women had a skills and drills session and then a bit of a scratchie.
It was then the Colt's turn to take the pitch and once again they were super competitive...I watched so many games of football yesterday that I have no idea who won and who lost but that's okay...footy was the winner of the day!
Our League boys are definitely showing that they will be competitive for the coming season, they were missing a large number of regular players and it'll be great to see them at full strength!
It was great to see some of our 3DEL members getting out there...Nathan Gillespie had a good day out for the Ressies and then Rhys Thompson and John Ward closed it out for the Muelies in the afternoon...I am pretty sure the Muelies won and I am sure that the crowd support was instrumental in this happening!
Mark your calendars for Sunday 2nd April, this kicks off Round 2 of the SWFL season and we will be taking on Donnybrook...A great day out supporting the local club and having a chance to come hang out with other friends and families too!
Character Strength of the Week -
This week is another great one, yes, I know I say that every week but a super relevant one...it is the strength of Gratitude.
I certainly tapped into this one this morning as I sat outside with a particularly good cup of coffee to start the day...
St Ignatius Loyola was an expert in the art of spiritual direction.
His Prayer the daily Examen was a way to reflect and show gratitude to God for our blessings.
Do you easily find what went well in your day and are thankful for it?
Do you feel blessed?
Reminders for the coming week...
Parent Meetings - Please note that these meetings will kick off on Tuesday afternoon and will continue into Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning.
This will be a 10 minute chat in which we can see how your child is travelling in their literacy and numeracy as well as their overall attitude and effort for the first 8 weeks or so.
It is a time to talk about what they are doing well and what areas they may need to bring some attention to.
If you have any questions, it may be helpful to have them written down before you come, if you are anything like me they all disappear as soon as I have a chance to ask them!
As nearly all of my time slots are full, it is important that you are on time for your meeting.
If you are running late, we will only be able to meet for whatever time is remaining out of respect to the next family...please check your time and let me know if you are unsure...I know what it looks like on my end. I received a calendar invite to accept and I am hopeful it looks the same on your end?
If I can please ask that you come in through the main door outside where the students line up, I will open up the door as each meeting finishes ready to welcome you in!
If you haven't booked a meeting in as yet, please jump in to do so...the link that I sent out last week will still be active.
Harmony Day - We will be celebrating Harmony Day as a class on Tuesday 21st March, this is a day to celebrate that we all belong and that racism, bullying and inequity in society is not welcome any longer.
Library Day - Please note that this will be held on Thursday this week instead of Wednesday as I will be in parent meetings all afternoon.
Students will participate in activities and be supervised by our specialist teachers, Mr Lee and Mrs Meyer for the afternoon to facilitate staff getting a head start on parent meetings.
NAPLAN - We conclude this week of assessments with our final one tomorrow...Maths. The students have been amazing, calm and relaxed and I am so proud of their efforts.
Early Leave - Please note that if you are planning on starting your holidays earlier, can you please make sure that you fill in an extended leave form, these are available from the office.
Homework...
We are back into the world of Homework this week, please make sure that your child is reading out loud each night AND choosing a different question to answer each night.
All homework is to be brought in on Friday morning to be marked, checked and new sheets collected ready for the following week!
Thank you all for a great term so far, I am very much looking forward to seeing you all this week in our meetings.
Enjoy the rest of your day,
Mrs Delane
