Week 3 Is Here Already!
Good afternoon parents,
Welcome to Week 3, I am very much looking forward to the coming week. Whilst swimming was a great way to spend some time each day, it will be great to get into the swing of our new routine!
Character Strength of the Week...
A rather timely one this!
In class this week we will be discussing times where we can show the character strength of BRAVERY.
Each Monday I will spend time with the students discussing what each strength means and how we can use it and also notice it in others.
The word bravery is defined as 'courageous behaviour or character'
St Oscar Romero is someone who when challenged with the decision between what was popular and what was right, chose to stand up for thousands of persecuted people, even at the risk of his own life.
We can ask ourselves:
- Do you speak up for what’s right?
- Do you embrace fear?
- Do you enjoy challenges?
This is also a great chance for you to discuss with your child times where a book or movie character, you or another family member has used this particular character strength!
REMINDERS - WEEK 3...
Parent Information Evening - On Friday, you would have received a notification that we have loaded onto our Blog the presentation that we will be running through tomorrow night. This is to help those that may not be able to attend understand how the year will go...please make sure that you take some time to have a look through it if you haven't already.
We are looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible during our session tomorrow night beginning at 6pm in the Hall with a short chat with Euey and Amie and then over in 3DEL beginning at 6.30pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
Tired Wobbles - Towards the end of last week, we had some students getting quite worn out and tired. We had some tears over coming into class and some students just feeling overwhelmed...please know this is completely normal!
The students have realised that we are now in for the long haul and that yes, they do have to come every day. Our teaching and learning programme will continue to pick up pace in the coming weeks as well.
I know that life is very busy for many and the heat at times is another factor.
If you can make sure they are getting as good a night's sleep as possible and some downtime on the weekends, this will go a long way to help.
If your child is particularly struggling, please reach out to let me know!
I will be organising some parent meetings in the coming weeks as needed, nothing to be alarmed about but I am a big believer in being pro-active in communicating with parents as the need arises.
Timetable - Now that swimming is over, we will begin our regular timetable. Please note that the students will need to wear their sports uniform on the following days:
- Monday - Dance (Mrs Haines)
- Wednesday - Sport (Mrs Sinclair)
- Friday - Cross Country/Whole School
Your child is to be in their formal uniform on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Please make sure that your son is arriving at school with his shirt tucked in ready to begin the day.
Arrival Time - Just a gentle reminder that unless your child is attending a school organised event such as a parent meeting, one of our literacy or maths intervention groups or running club that they are not to arrive too early.
If you need to drop your child off early on occasion, we completely understand. Please know that they are to head straight to the main courtyard area where they can be supervised by Admin staff.
They are not to hang their bags and then wait around outside of classrooms.
They will be asked to head over to their classrooms at 8.25am to allow them time to get ready to head into class.
No games are to be played on grass areas.
Whole School Mass - On Friday morning, students in Years 2 - 6 will be walking down to the church to participate in a whole school mass.
All families are warmly invited to attend if you are able!
Wishing you all a great Week 3!
Kindest regards,
Mrs Delane
